Continuing through Colorado

After leaving Ridgway State Park we traveled to Gunnison, CO, and stayed 2 nights at Palisades SR. RV Park. This is a really neat park that supports the SR. program in Gunnison.  Most of the people spend May – September and they have lots of activities.

After the 2 days here we traveled 16 miles to Elk Creek CG in the Curetani National Forrest.  This was right on a lake and very nice, so we decided to stay a week.

While at Elk Creek we took a day drive to Crested Butte.  A very touristy town but lots of neat stores.

From Elk Creek we traveled a short distance to the Salida East BLM Land which is now run by Colorado State Parks. No longer a free camping site which we stayed in many . times.  Now, with very little improvement, it is $28.00 a night, plus the Colorado State Vehicle Day Use Fee of $8.00.  Luckily we bought this pass last year and ours is still good.

Next post will be as we continue traveling through  Colorado.
