Back in Texas

Well, our trip to the Natchez Trace Trail was cancelled.  In Vidalia, LA we had heavy rains and our Foretravel had 2 leaks so we headed back to Nacogdoches to have Motorhomes of Texas check it out.  We got there on Thursday and they got us in Friday morning.  Found out the problem and fixed the leaks but wanted us to stay over the weekend because they were expecting rain and we could check it out.  The fix worked and we headed out on Monday.

It was good we cancelled the rest of our trip because there was major weather issues in LA and MS.

From there we headed to Fairfield Lake State Park.  This is way off the road but a very nice, quiet Texas State Park.

We headed back to Waco and stayed at North Crest RV Park for 2 days.  We have stayed there before and John really liked it.

From Waco we headed to Lake Brownwood State Park for four days.  It is a really nice Texas State Park right on Lake Brownwood.

We left Lake Brownwood after four days trying to get a head start in front of upcoming storms heading the way we were traveling.

We drove to Midland, and along the way passed through Alto, Texas, where a tornado touched down a few days ago, and it was awful.   We saw a house torn completely down. When we got to Midland, we tried 3 campgrounds and they were all full with oil workers.  So we moved on to Odessa, where we found a campground at $65 a night!!!!!  They had one site for the night and we grabbed it.  That night it rained hard, hailed, thundered, lightning, and the wind blew.  We got a flash flood warning on our phone, and a tornado warning on the radio.  When they said where the tornado touched down, it was right where we had looked for a campground in Midland.

Needless to say, we are anxious to get out of Texas.  So we stayed one night in Odessa and then headed to The Ranch, an Escapees park in Lakewood, NM.

I will post again on our trip through New Mexico.
