Good bye Elks; Hello Jojoba

We left the Elks in Westminster, CO, on October 1, 2014.  We got tired of hanging out there waiting for our house to be completed.

We spent the first night at Cabela’s in Lone Tree, CO.  We took Sadie to her old groomer and then headed out.   We traveled on I25 South to Colorado Springs and then 50 West to 285 South to 160 West towards  Del Norte.  We spent the night at a Passport America Campground called Woods and River RV Park.  Full hookups and very quiet, for $16.70.

The next morning we headed West on 160 towards Durango.  We stayed at another Passport America Campground, LaMesa RV Park in Cortez, CO.  It was very quiet and well kept.  Electric hookups were $18.,60.

After waking up we headed South towards Shiprock via the 160 and then 491 South.  What a horrible mistake that was.  There was a HUGE Navajo Nation Parade with thousands of Indians and cars parked all along the road.  A normal divided highway was reduced to one lane in each direction as the parade encompassed the other side of the highway.  The parade was miles long and ended up at a fairgrounds.

After struggling through this area we continued on to Gallup, NM,  and then onto I40 West to Meteor Crater RV Park.  We really like this campground – nice big sites, quiet, good showers, and very secure.  And what made it even better, I had a 50% off certificate from Quartzsite 2 years ago, so paid $18.68.

Continuing on the next morning we traveled on I40 West to I 17 South.  Our destination tonight was Congress, AZ, which is where North Ranch Escapees Park is.  We usually stay here when traveling this direction.  The spots are shady and the office staff is very friendly.  Full hookups – $20.20.

Our destination the next day was Jojoba Hills SKP Resort, and our Site  #923.

We got here in time to work at their Annual Yard Sale which is HUGE.  People from all over the area wait for this sale.  Here is a picture of cars lined up early the morning it opened.IMG_0955

When we arrived we decided we needed a golf cart so went about finding one in the park.  Here is a picture of the golf cart we purchased.

But why should John have all the fun?  So then we went on the search for another golf cart and found it at Prestige Golf Carts in Temecula.

After staying on our Site 923 we heard about a great one coming up and so got on the wish list.  We got it 2 weeks ago and love it.  It is right on one of the ponds and we hear the waterfall from our rig.

Pictures of this lot and more postings later.
