After visiting Randy and Marie in Jefferson, we headed towards Grand Tetons, WY. The first night the weather was so hot (100 degrees) that we opted to stay at Junction West Campground in Grand Junction, CO. This was one of the nicest commercial campgrounds we have stayed in – nice and clean showers, good spacing between sites, good electric power, and very clean.
The next day we headed toward the Flaming Gorge in Utah, and stayed at Fireman’s Memorial Campground, which is a National Forrest Service Campground so our Golden Age Pass gave us a 50% discount. We had a great site with a view of the Gorge.
From here we headed towards Rock Springs, WY. There is a Walmart, Starbucks, and Café Rio here, so I was thrilled.
Next stop – Gros Ventre Campground in the Grand Tetons. We arrived here July 25 and parked right next to fellow LD owners, Dave & Celeste and Jane & Ron.
The next day we all took our kayaks to Jenny Lake and put them in the water for a trial run. Dave/Celeste and John/I have SeaEagle Inflatable kayaks and Jane and her grand daughter, Ally, used hard sided kayaks.
A guy on a motorcycle was parked across from us and he had a real close experience with the moose. He was up early and saw two bull moose and a dog barked and scared them so they bolted towards him. You can see in the picture they were very close.
