We left our home in Larkspur on Monday, July 22. Our first stop was in Jefferson, CO, at our friends’ 50 acre ranch. We met Randy and Marie when they moved in next to us in Kauai, having previously lived in CO. They were visiting their ranch this summer and invited us to come by, which we did. We spent the night in this quiet, peaceful area.
From Jefferson, we headed to Grand Junction, CO, where my mom was born. It was so hot (100 degrees) that we stayed at a commercial campground and ran our air conditioner all night. We did get to eat at one of our favorite places, Cafe Rio.
The next day we headed on to the Flaming Gorge in Utah and stayed at Fireman’s Memorial, which is one of our usual stopping places on our way to the Grand Tetons. We had a spot with a great view of the Flaming Gorge.
From Flaming Gorge we headed to Rock Springs, WY to stop at Starbucks and Cafe Rio. After lunch we headed up to Gros Ventre Campground in the Grand Tetons where we will be until Labor Day.
